Susan Schilling Legacy Award Presented to Dan Ronk, Former New Tech H.S. Principal

RE@L logo_Corp_color_RGB-high-REZRE@L is pleased to note that another one of our Management Team, Susan Schilling, was featured in the national news recently. The award was made at New Tech Network Annual Conference in New Orleans.

The annual Susan Schilling Legacy Award was presented in New Orleans to Dan Ronk, former Principal at Rochester, Indiana New Tech High School. The New Tech model calls for a one-to-one student to computer ratio, project-based course work that combines some classes, parental involvement and the requirement of at least 12 hours of college credit to graduate.

46p1.previewDan Ronk (pictured with his team from Rochester(IN) New Tech High School) accepted the Susan Schilling Legacy Award for his leadership. He was recognized as an “outstanding entrepreneur in the field of education who demonstrated leadership and contributed to the innovation and sustainability of the New Tech Network.”

In accetping his award, Mr. Ronk also recognized RE@L’s Susan Schilling: “I am honored to have known and worked with Susan Schilling for years,” said Ronk at the ceremony. With the help of Susan’s many K12 tech skills, RE@L intends to do just that. Making a difference is what RE@l is all about. Thank you Susan, we are pleased to have you as a member of our team!

Tom King & Dale LaFrenz

Dr. Tom King has served for over 40 years as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Saint Thomas in the School of Education. The Saturn School of Tomorrow, formerly a St. Paul Public School, and his visionary response to educational reform, was a lighthouse on the frontier of school change. Tom was an experienced high school teacher of mathematics, a school administrator, and Director of Technology for the St. Paul MN Public Schools. He is also a member of the RE@L Team. Dr. Dale LaFrenz is Chairman of RE@L and one of the founders of MECC Software who brought “Oregon Trail” to millions of K12 kids everywhere. He has written extensively on the history and evolution of Ed Tech. His work in forging new paths for MECC’S “edutainment" software was instrumental in connecting school-markets, kids, teachers and consumer-markets/kids/parents, and now serves as the new launching pad for RE@L apps and software.
